Pauze Point Therapy
Welcome!!
Starting therapy is a big step, and it’s normal to have questions, worries, or mixed feelings about it. At Pauze Point Therapy, my goal is to make the process as clear and gentle as possible so you can focus on what brought you here, rather than stressing about logistics. This page will walk you through how getting started works and what you can expect along the way.
Your First Steps
Here’s how to get started working together:
Step 1: Reach Out
Send an email using the contact information on this site with a few lines about what you’re hoping to work on, who you’re seeking therapy for (yourself, your teen, you and your partner), and your general availability. You don’t have to share your whole story yet, just enough to see if we might be a good fit.
Step 2: Brief Follow-Up
I’ll respond with a brief follow-up, letting you know about current availability and, if it seems like a potential match, how to move forward with scheduling. A 15 minute consultation can be scheduled, if preferred. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll do my best to point you toward other options when possible.
Step 3: Schedule Your First Appointment
Once we decide to move forward, we’ll choose a time for your first appointment. I’ll share any necessary intake forms or details ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect.
What To Expect In Our Work Together
Therapy is a collaborative process. In our first few sessions, we’ll get to know one another, talk about what brought you in, and begin to clarify what you hope might feel different over time. You’re always welcome to ask questions, slow things down, or let me know if something isn’t working for you.
A pace that respects your readiness and comfort
Space for your full story, thoughts, feelings, and lived experience
Curiosity and care, rather than judgment or pressure
Check-ins about how therapy is feeling and whether our work is aligned with your goals
15-Minute Consultation
If you’re curious about starting therapy but not quite ready to commit, a brief consultation can be a gentle first step. This is a short, 15-minute conversation where we can get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
How a 15-Minute Consultation Can Help
- Ask initial questions about my approach and services
- Share a bit about what you’re hoping to work on
- Get a feel for my style and whether it feels comfortable
- Clarify which service might be the best fit (individual, couples, or teen therapy)
- Decide on next steps without pressure or obligation
You don’t have to have the perfect words or a polished story before reaching out. The consultation is simply a starting point—and we’ll take it one step at a time.
Preparing for Your Session
Choose a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted.
Be in one place for your session (stationary) – sessions can’t take place while driving.
Avoid public places so we can protect your privacy and confidentiality.
New Client FAQs
Do I need a diagnosis or referral to start?
No. You don’t need a formal diagnosis or referral to begin therapy here. Many people come in simply knowing something doesn’t feel right, or that they’re ready for support with a particular area of life.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions so we can build momentum and trust. Over time, we may adjust the frequency based on your needs, goals, and capacity.
Do you see individuals, couples, and teens?
Yes. I work with adults in individual therapy, couples seeking support with their relationship, and teens navigating the challenges of adolescence. If you’re not sure which service fits best, you’re welcome to reach out with questions.
